Rene Lalique (1860-1945)

The genius of art nouveau was Rene Lalique (1860-1945), a true innovator whose work soon became an example for Jewellers both in Europe and America. Lalique's early production, retailed by famous Jewellery houses such as Boucheron, Cartier and Vever, was in the conventional naturalistic style.

Lalique soon began to introduce fantasy and originality to his work; in the 1880 and early 1890s he dedicated himself to the study of enamelling techniques. His effort culminated in the collection of jewels he presented at the 1895 Exhibition of the Societe des Artistes Francais.
